The Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology is the largest museum of historical technology in Europe. The best rare exhibits of the last century are collected here: military equipment, weapons, rare aircraft, motorcycles and hundreds of retro cars, railway transport, space objects and household items of the USSR era.
The collection occupies 3 floors of the exhibition complex and consists of several expositions: the most striking examples of the automotive industry of the Soviet period; the rarest European and American cars since 1908 (BMW, Alfa Romeo, Buick, Horch, Rolls–Royce, Cadillac, Delahaye, etc.); motorcycles of peacetime and wartime.
A variety of military equipment, including tanks of the Great Patriotic War and the second half of the 20th century, artillery and anti-aircraft missile launchers, as well as Soviet jet aircraft, the most complete collection of Yakovlev aircraft are located on the vast open territory of the museum.
At the Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology, guests can book rides on military and retro equipment (BTR-40, cars, motorcycles). There is also a railway train with a historical exposition "Mobile feeding squad" on the territory. You can restore your strength at the Grand Prix restaurant and the Duchesse D pastry shop.'Angouleme", which serves Russian cuisine made from organic and farm products.
For young visitors to the museum, in the shady part of the territory, there is a large playground, which features slides, trampolines, a maze, a xylophone, a carousel and other favorite attractions.
The Vadim Zadorozhny Museum of Technology has a unique workshop system that restores any kind of equipment, from tanks to airplanes. The process takes from 2 to 10 years. Aircraft such as the I-16 and I-153, found at the battlefields, return to flying condition to participate in the airshow.
The museum's collection includes rare T-26 tanks, including a unique hybrid from near Leningrad with a late hull and an old-style turret. The collection includes six modifications of the T-26, including a commander's one with night spotlights and a radio station. One of the tanks that covered Leningrad in 1941 was lifted from the bottom of the Neva River: restorers reassembled it after an internal explosion, and now it is on the move, participating in parades.
1. A unique world-class collection
This is one of the largest collections of historical equipment in Russia. There are more than 300 cars and over 180 motorcycles of the XIX–XXI centuries assembled here. You will see everything from European legends like Rolls-Royce and Alfa Romeo to the exclusive government ZIS and ZIL, as well as the rarest examples of the global automotive industry.
2. The world's only collection of Yakovlev Design Bureau aircraft
The main gem of the museum is a unique collection of aviation equipment. On the street and in the pavilion, the world's only full-scale collection of aircraft created at the Yakovlev Design Bureau is presented, including legendary machines from the Second World War and the Soviet period.
3. Full immersion in the atmosphere of military operations
The exposition of military equipment is not just an exhibition. This is a large-scale reconstruction (1:1) of the front line with a real train station, an airfield, a maze of trenches and a hospital. Detailed study combined with audio effects creates the effect of full presence and takes you back to the historical era.
4. Living history: technology on the move
Most of the more than 300 units of military and automotive equipment presented are in perfect condition and on the move. These are not dead exhibits behind glass, but working machines ready to demonstrate their power.
5. A journey into the aesthetics of the Soviet era
The new gem of the museum is an exhibition dedicated to the history of ZIL. This is an outstanding monument of the constructivist era, where you will see not only famous cars, but also household appliances — from refrigerators to products with luxurious packaging design, which was the hallmark of the Soviet era.
